Custom Software Development

We build internal software around how your business actually runs: operations dashboards, internal tools, client portals, and web apps that replace spreadsheets, copy-paste, and manual reports. You own the data and the custom code.

What we build

  • Operations dashboards that pull numbers from the tools you already use into one view, updated automatically.
  • Internal tools for tracking jobs, orders, inventory, scheduling, or approvals.
  • Spreadsheet replacements. When a shared spreadsheet has become the system of record, we turn it into a web app with structured data, permissions, and a change history.
  • Client portals where customers check status, download documents, or see invoices.
  • Integrations and automations between the systems you already pay for, with AI steps where they save real time, such as sorting inbound requests or drafting routine documents. See AI and workflow automation.

For example, we built an internal portal for an accounting firm: QuickBooks reporting delivered to Google Sheets, time-off requests and approvals, a client onboarding wizard, and team notifications in Google Chat, all running in the firm’s own accounts. See our work.

How we work

We start from the workflow: who does what, where the data lives, and where time is lost. Then we build the smallest version that removes the worst manual step, put it in front of the people who will use it, and extend it from there. You see working software within the first cycle, not a specification document.

Technical approach

  • TypeScript end to end, React for interfaces, and PostgreSQL for data.
  • Sign-in and role-based permissions from the start, so each person sees only what they should.
  • Hosting on Cloudflare or Railway in accounts you own, with error monitoring and database backups.
  • Code in a Git repository, in your own GitHub organization if you prefer, with documentation, so another developer can take it over.

When custom software makes sense

Off-the-shelf software is usually cheaper when it fits. Custom is worth it when your process is part of what makes the business work, when you are paying for several tools and joining them together by hand, or when per-seat pricing grows faster than the value. If an existing product does the job, we will tell you.

Frequently asked questions

How much does custom software cost?
It depends on the number of screens, the integrations, and how the data is structured. Clear scopes get a fixed price; evolving tools are billed hourly against an estimate. New clients can start with a free pilot, such as one working screen. See pricing.
Who owns the code and the data?
You own your data and, once it is paid for, the custom code we write for you. Shared components it builds on come with a permanent license, so you can run, change, or hand over the software without us. The database and hosting run in accounts in your name.
What happens if you are no longer available?
The software is standard TypeScript and PostgreSQL, documented, and licensed to you permanently, so any competent developer can maintain or extend it.
Can it work with the tools we already use?
Usually. Most business software, including payment, accounting, scheduling, and CRM systems, offers an API or data export we can build on. We check the specific tools during scoping.
