Website Migration Services
We move websites from one platform, CMS, or host to another with every page, file, and URL accounted for. The work that protects your traffic, from the URL inventory to the redirect map and post-launch monitoring, is part of every migration.
Migrations we handle
- Off a hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, or GoDaddy’s website builder, to a custom site you own.
- Off a CMS such as WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla, to a faster static or headless setup. See WordPress migration.
- Host and domain moves: shared hosting to Cloudflare, domains and DNS consolidated into accounts you control, email kept working.
- Content archives: large libraries of posts, audio, video, or documents moved by script with their metadata intact.
What every migration includes
- A URL inventory and baseline from a crawl, the sitemap, Search Console, and analytics.
- A redirect map from every old URL to its closest new page, tested before and after launch.
- Content migration by script, then checked page by page against the old site.
- Launch checks: robots.txt, canonical tags, no leftover noindex, and the sitemap submitted to Google and Bing.
- Monitoring after launch in Search Console, with fixes for any URL that breaks.
Downtime and email
The new site is tested on its final configuration before DNS is switched, and the old site stays up until then. During the switch, visitors reach either the old site or the new one, not an error page.
If email runs on the same domain, its DNS records are carried over before the switch so mail keeps arriving.
The full process is in our SEO site migration checklist.
Frequently asked questions
- Will I lose my search rankings when I migrate?
- Not if every old URL redirects to its closest new page and each page keeps its content and metadata. Some ranking movement is normal for a few weeks while search engines recrawl; lasting drops almost always trace to a missing redirect or lost content.
- Is there downtime during a migration?
- No. The new site is ready before DNS changes, and the old site keeps serving until the switch completes.
- Can you migrate a site off Wix or Squarespace?
- Yes. Neither offers a complete export, so content is exported where the platform allows and otherwise collected from the live site, then checked against it.
- How long does a website migration take?
- It depends on the amount of content and the custom features to rebuild: a small brochure site moves much faster than one with a large archive or custom functionality. The scope gives a timeline before work starts.
